Bridging worlds: The Connection Between You and the Dead
Updated: May 15
In the quiet town of Enfield, Connecticut, a tale whispered among locals spoke of a couple harassed by the restless dead. Faced with an otherworldly spirit that defied conventional understanding, they turned to the one individual rumored to possess the power to intervene: Rita MacRae, a medium with the ability to bridge the gap between the living and deceased. As the couple grew desperate, the ghostly presence intensified. They turned to MacRae for help, hoping she could bring them relief from the haunting torment. But they had no idea that seeking her aid would uncover a mystery darker than they could have imagined.

MacRae is no stranger to the whispers of the supernatural. She has practiced methods of communication her whole life. She can account in her youth having “imaginary” friends, that were spirits! From a young age, her mother recognized MacRae's unique gift. “The way I talked to them and described them she knew they were real in her heart.” MacRae's adopted parents raised her in New Hampshire. She grew up Catholic and enjoyed her time in the Church. However, her perspective on religion shifted due to its underlying root of fear. “I believe in the power of love,” MacRae said, “my beliefs are based on the foundation of love.”
During her teenage years, MacRae began to embrace and explore her abilities. She discovered that she is not only a medium but a seer. Her capacity to peer into the past and potential futures unlocked opportunities. In high school, she made a chilling prediction regarding her cousin's car accident, even accurately foreseeing its cause. Despite warning her loved ones, she was unable to prevent the tragedy, but fortunately, they survived. MacRae also experimented with her foresight to predict winning ticket numbers at school events. However, repeated successes led to a ban on her participation.
While in nursing school, MacRae worked in a social security office when suddenly, a sharp pain struck her chest. The pressure grew stronger radiating down her arms. Momentarily paralyzed, she felt relief when her manager passed by. Recognizing the significance of the moment, MacRae rushed to her manager and inquired about his heart health. She explained that he needed a triple bypass immediately to prevent a heart attack. The man did not take this warning seriously but after seeing MacRae’s concern he decided to go to the emergency room. Just as MacRae predicted, the man had an emergency triple bypass and thanked her for saving his life. Currently, MacRae is serving as a nurse manager. Having these abilities has drastically shifted her role in these positions. As a medium, MacRae can sense things other medical professionals cannot. Her colleagues and supervisors are constantly amazed and perplexed on how MacRae’s patients recover and heal so fast.
MacRae also devotes a lot of her time teaching spirituality. "God gave everyone the ability and gift to communicate with those in spirit," MacRae explains, "Everyone is intuitive." In her classes, she teaches people to connect with the spiritual world and techniques like hypnotherapy. Her gatherings attract those eager to learn about energy work, where she instructs practices such as reiki, meditation, and using tools like pendulums and cards. "I want everyone to become awaken to their own," she said.
Despite the enthusiasm of many who want to learn from MacRae, she also encounters criticism because of her controversial skills. Accused of leading a cult or dismissed as crazy and fake, MacRae once found these allegations troubling. However, she came to realize she doesn't need to prove herself to anyone. This realization even cost her friendships and relationships. “They didn’t want that element involved in their life at all,” she reflects.
MacRae established her presence as a spiritual advocate through websites, social media, live sessions, and networking. “I still don't know what to write on my business card,” she jokes. MacRae conducts a lot of high-energy work such as house clearings, exorcisms, spells, portal openings, and more. One case that particularly impacted MacRae was a couple from Enfield Connecticut. They lived in a 3 bedroom Ranch style home with an attic and basement. The house appeared “dingy and dark” MacRae said, “we went a handful of times.” This frightening spirit moved through pipes and wires, breaking things, opening doors and cabinets, taking bites of food, hiding important medicine, moving objects, and more to terrorize this couple.
MacRae attempted to communicate with the spirit causing distress to this couple. She describes talking to spirits similar to conversing with a person, but using all five senses. "To me, it's all God, and God sends his angels," she explains. The grim truth was revealed: the spirit was a young boy who had suffered abuse and was trapped in the house. MacRae elaborated on the concept that everything holds energy, with some items being more potent than others. "Energy attracts energy," she emphasized. Certain objects in the home exacerbated and attracted negative energy including the couple's stress. “I've never seen a house get taken over in so many aspects.” MacRae remarks. Removing trauma-linked objects was a step. But, it was not enough to rid the house of its ghostly inhabitants.
MacRae and her team meticulously lined and layered the house with salt and rocks before proceeding with a highly dangerous ritual. They summoned the boy's mother, inviting another spirit into their home. With MacRae's expertise, she resolved their conflict allowing the boy to transition to the other-side. The couple felt an immense sense of relief as peace returned to their home. Even the neighbors remarked on the newfound lightness surrounding the house.
Now residing in North Carolina, MacRae continues her practice of energy work while also sharing her knowledge through teaching. "I want us to stop denying the fact that spirits are real," she asserts. "They are still living. It's not an after, it's a continuation of," she explains.
